The Cathedral of Saint Ignatius Loyola serves as the central church of the Diocese of Palm Beach. The word ‘cathedral’ comes from the Latin ‘cathedra‘, meaning ‘seat’ – the seat of the Bishop.
Branching out from this seat in his home parish, the Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito lovingly tends to the spiritual needs of over 240,000 Catholics in 50 parishes across the Diocese.
As the Rector of the Cathedral, the Very Reverend Gavin J. Badway has been entrusted with overseeing the operations of the Cathedral and serving as the pastor to the parish that the Cathedral serves.
