Parish Ministries and Activities

ALTAR GUILD: Wash and press altar linens weekly. Volunteers assist on a monthly rotation basis. Special instructions are provided.

ALTAR SERVERS: Youth assist the priest at Mass and other liturgical functions. Children who have received their First Communion are eligible to serve. Contact: Ashlie O’Brien at aobrien@cathedralpb.com 

CATHEDRAL GIFT SHOP & CAFÉ: Parishioners volunteer to work in our Parish Shop which is open during the week from 8:30 – 3:30 pm.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY of THE WORD: (Seasonal) Children are dismissed from the 10:30 Mass to go to the Sacristy where they hear about the Readings and Gospel at their age level. CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Guide children in their Catholic faith by becoming a teacher or assistant in our religious education program.  Background screening and Training Video is required. Contact: Lucy Pratt at lpratt@cathedralpb.com or 561-622-2565

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: We have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday, 9-5, along with Divine Mercy at 3pm. First Fridays of the month we have Bi-Lingual Adoration, Praise & Worship from 7 – 8 pm. Recitation of the Rosary is held at 6:30 pm. 

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION: Assist the priest to distribute Holy Communion at Mass and bring Holy Communion to parishioners either in a local hospital, nursing facility or at home. Training session required and is provided by the parish. Contact: Theresa Liland at tliland23@gmail.com

GRIEF SUPPORT (BEREAVEMENT) GROUP: Meets Thursday evenings from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. Help and encouragement after the death of a loved one. Grief Share is a special weekly support group designed to help you rebuild your life.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: Is a men’s Catholic service organization that serves people on the local parish level as well as the national and international levels. Watch Bulletin for our many events. Contact: Grand Knight Len Langino at 631-896-9313. 

LECTORS: Proclaim God’s Word to the parish community at Mass and other services. Men and women, who are good readers with strong voices, are eligible to be considered as lectors. Training is provided. Contact: Silvia Stradi at stignatiuslectors@gmail.com 

MUSIC MINISTRY: Our primary goal is to enable the congregation to pray through song and to lead the congregation in singing. In addition to the Adult Choir, we have Children’s Choir and Contemporary Choir. Contact: Julie at music@cathedralpb.com 

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP GROUP: Welcome all men on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. for coffee as they discuss the readings for the upcoming Sunday. Contact: Ken at kenreynolds44@gmail.com 

PARISH OUTREACH & FOOD PANTRY: An effective means for parishioners to donate their time, talent, and resources to help our neighbors who are in need. Donations for the Food Pantry can be dropped at the Food Pantry or the parish office. Click here for more information.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY: Meets on the last Wednesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. Shawls given to nursing homes, Veteran’s hospital and baptism shawls for babies and adults, so if you love to knit or crochet or would like to learn how this ministry is for you.

RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Welcomes all who want to either enter the Catholic Church, those who need to finish their Sacraments or those who just want to learn more about your Catholic Faith. We meet weekly on Tuesday’s from 7 pm until 8:15 pm. Contact: Greg Pratt at gpratt@cathedralpb.com 

RESPECT LIFE: The purpose of this group is to uphold the teachings of the Catholic faith that life is sacred from the moment of conception to natural death. Contact: Carol Bal at 694-8953 

USHERS/GREETERS: Volunteers serve primarily at Sunday Masses to greet people, show them to a seat, hand out bulletins, collect the offering, direct people where to receive Holy Communion. They are available to assist in emergencies. Contact: Jim Rabideau at jarab@comcast.net 

VOCATION’S MINISTRY: Central Deanery group who meet and implement ideas for growing the Vocations Ministry for the area parishes. Contact: Fred Topor at ftopor@comcast.net

WELCOME MINISTRY: Welcome new members to the parish, plan and execute social events at the Parish and encourage people to get to know one other. Contact: Jeanne at 561-622-2565. 

WOMEN’S GUILD: This women’s social group is involved in helping the Parish. They meet monthly, seasonally, and host many different events. They also fundraise for the parish, veterans and homebound. Contact: President Kathy Baratela at 561 626 0891 

WOMEN’S SCRIPTURE STUDY: A weekly women’s discussion and social group that’s held on Tuesday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. to discuss the upcoming readings of the week. Contact: Cheri Reynolds at cheri.reynolds1@gmail.com 

YOUTH MINISTRY: EDGE (Every Day God Experience) for Middle School youth grades 6-8, and High School Youth Ministry, grades 9-12. To volunteer, Background Screening and Diocesan Training required. Contact: Martina at mdasilva@cathedralpb.com
